See-through
A few weeks ago I had a CT scan made of my tummy.
The software that was included on the CD Rom with the image data was a very crappy Windows application and I didn’t do much with it. But today I found an open source Mac viewer and it produced these stunning revealing images.
Have a peek into my body:

Wow. Really… wow.

That
is
the
coolest
thing
ever
(almost)

How cool is that!
I can watch it many times and discover lots of fascinating things. How come the small intestines are yellow but the large intestine isn’t? You can see the cartilage attached to the ends of the ribs! And you can see the skinny muscular body right inside the slightly chubbier one. And look at that hovering belly button…
Did they learn anything at all from this scan?

Groovy colors. Far out, dude! But, wow man, I see these big holes in your colon. Shouldn’t they have, like, you know, stidge them up or something…

Those are false colour images. Different densities produce different colours.
I haven’t seen the specialist that hopefully learned something from this scan. Waiting lists are brutal in Québec. I had to wait 9 months to make this scan if I hadn’t done it in a private imaging clinic at a cost of $550 (our insurance paid that). People that don’t have additional insurance either need to be really sick and get priority, or need to have mone. Or just suffer.
Interesting is that only my Dutch readers comment on this post. Too much information for Canadians?

Très impressionnant. Mais j’espère que tu n’as rien de grave. Que dis-je ?! J’espère que tu n’a rien du tout !
