Spring
We enjoy an early spring this year. The dreaded brown period, when everything is ugly and bare, actually passed very fast. If you look at photos from last year all the trees were still bare and now they are already either green or flowering.

My departed father, a German immigrant, always said Montréal didn’t really HAVE spring. Within a week all the snow & ice would melt and BOOM, it’d be hot & sultry.
Since moving to the greater NY metropolitan area, it’s been a revelation to me that spring is, indeed, its own season. Cherry blossom festivals not just in DC. Flowering dogwood trees. My garden has its 1st blooms in Feb. & basically has something blooming through November.
