Every time I leave the house I lock the dogs up in the kitchen where they can do less harm to the floor when they decide to pee or poop.
They know exactly what is going to happen and don’t like one bit. They also suddenly become deaf to my calls and don’t obey anymore. Not that they obey very well normally, but when I have to lock them up they stop listening at all. So I have to carry them. Poupoune acts gloomy, putting her head down and looking at me like I’m going to send her to the gallows. Pepe however, becomes furious and growls, barks and bites and is genuinely nasty. In order to save my hands from his bites (even though they don’t really hurt since he has only a couple of teeth left) I now have devised a tactic. I just lift his whole basket, carry it to the kitchen and ‘pour’ him in the dog-bed. Sometimes he doesn’t even bark once and just continues to sleep under his blanket. But sometimes, like here, he is still very angry and I can’t come near him.
But he never stays mad very long. When I come back, even if it’s just after a couple of minutes, he is happy to see me and barks enthusiastically and dances like nothing has happened. I still have to post a little video of his dancing, it’s quite funny. But whenever I try to capture he stops and just barks at me in excitement. I tried often, maybe at some point I’m successful.
