Finished
Well, not exactly, I still have to add some small tiles under the closet and do some caulking, but it’s 99% done. So we moved all the bathroom stuff into the bathroom and into the new closet and I moved all my tools out of the living room. Finally…

Wow, that looks really great!! I wish we could hire you for some of our ‘klusjes’ here in Rotterdam… Keep up the good work; looking forward to seeing what you’ll make of the bookcase (and glad to know that we’re not the only ones who still have packed moving boxes after more than one and a half years…)!

But you have parent (in law) that help you with those ‘klusjes’ (little handy work). My parents can’t do that and Alison’s parents are themselves surrounded with a house that could use some work.
(I hope I haven’t offended them.)

Surely not. But more to the point ó I donít think it would ever occur to them to help with klusjes. They send their offspring out into the world and watch with interest. The end. (Well, not quite the end: they keep their own doors open and welcoming.)
I think this is the tradeoff: parents who donít think the details of their childrenís lives are any of their business donít interfere and make excellent in-laws. Parents who maintain a high level of involvement in the lives of their adult offspring are (I imagine) very useful, but (Iím still imagining) rather more maintenance. Anyway, the ones Iíve got suit me fine.
Oh, and Helmi: the bathroom is *much* nicer than it looks in the photo! Iím sure you can hire Mark if you need to ó weíll be visiting in May ó but you can also just come by and visit and use the bathroom here.
See you soon!
Alison

Even better in real life? But your bathroom already looks so good in the picture!
We are actually doing some work on the house here ourselves at the moment, and will probably be phoning the parents-in-law again soon as well. So hopefully we will have a box-free house in 2006! You’re very welcome to come over and check in May, nice to hear that you will be in Holland again next year! Looking forward to seeing you in Rotterdam then.
